Sword Combat

Participation in padded sword fighting is available to individuals aged 8 and above, holding a rank of 9th Gup or higher. Scoring will follow point sparring rules, necessitating the use of headgear with face shields, mouth guards, and foam fist guards. The required padded swords will be supplied by DKFA.

Competitors must demonstrate clean and controlled techniques at all times or risk disqualification.

Both hands must remain on the sword at all times and sword must remain lower than competitor’s eye level and in front of the body during swings or offensive actions.

Executing a swing beyond eye level, resembling a baseball swing, is considered an unauthorized technique and will result in a warning.

Stabbing is limited to the stomach area; any attempt to target the face is deemed illegal and will incur a warning.

Accumulation of two warnings will result in the opponent being awarded a point. If a competitor receives three points due to violations, they will be disqualified, and their adversary declared the winner.

Single points shall be awarded for any controlled and clean/successful strikes to the body by the padded sword.

Strikes can not be made to the groin or fingers up to the wrist (above the wrist area is to be considered as a body part).

Two points shall be awarded for any controlled and clean/successful strikes to the head.

Matches shall be single elimination, one round and have a total run time of two minutes.
