What Is Taekwondo?
Taekwondo is a traditional Korean martial art recognized for its powerful kicks, fast hand techniques, and dynamic movements. More than physical skill, Taekwondo develops discipline, confidence, and focus. The name itself—Tae (foot), Kwon (fist), Do (way of)—translates to “the way of the foot and fist.” While the modern term has been used since 1955, Taekwondo’s origins stretch back over 2,300 years in Korea.
Unlike a sport with a limited season, Taekwondo is a lifelong journey. Its ranking system, represented by belts from white to black, symbolizes not only technical progress but also personal growth—maturity, understanding, and responsibility.
